How we came to love buckets
For a lifetime, Henry Tupper, the founder of The Bucket Store, was obsessed with helping his family. Before the days of simple plumbing, he had to use buckets to move water between the creek down the road and his home. He considered it a chore until his beloved sister drew ill, and he had to keep water going to and from his home to keep his sister hydrated, and therefore alive. It was then that he realized, the bucket was by far the most under appreciated tool in human creation. Luckily, he changed this. In 1883 he founded the bucket store, by tearing down local people's uselessly extravagant houses and repurposing the wood and vinyl into thousands upon thousands of strong buckets. It was 1927 when Tupper died, and his son, Jeffery Tupper, took control. He created not only many new variations of the bucket, but also their handles, making bucket usage more fun than ever. In 1954, nearly 20 years after he took the dynasty, Jeffery Tupper introduced his own line of "Special Buckets" that were made of a mysterious and new substance known as plastic. These "Special Buckets" were different by every variation, they could be long, deep, or a perfect cube. As perfect an idea as they seemed, the bucket community shunned him for his ignorance, and his company fired him from beneath his feet. Luckily enough, he had banked away the inheritance his father had left, and created a new company with his "Special Bucket" idea and called it Tupperware. Only three years later was the redemption of Jeffery Tupper, whereas so many people bought and used this fantastic product, that The Bucket Store LLC. could no longer deal with the opposition and was forced to acquire the company for $600,000 on the condition that Jeffery Tupper be reappointed as the president of The Bucket Company. Unfortunately after all this, he never was able to give an heir, so the Tupper name died with him in 1989. The company fell into discord for nearly 12 year until James H. Ardin was elected president in 2001. He regrew the company into what it is today and remains the president of this great company and designed this beautiful web site that is now the main source of transaction for our company. The Bucket Store name has a lot of time and history behind it, which we think is why it's such a great place. We hope that you get as much from the experience here as we do.
